Apprentice Program:

When: 

Summer: May 20- July 27

Fall: August 1-October 31

Overview:

The Persephone Apprentice Program offers experience working in a floral studio. Learn from a leader in bridal floral design and gain experience in an exciting industry. The program is designed to give the apprentice experience with the behind the scenes of producing an event. They will play a supporting role as they are trained to design arrangements. By the end of the program they should be confident to assist at any level of the process. After completing the Apprentice Program, participants will be reviewed and considered for the Freelance Designer Position. The program is part time and will be structured around the weddings the studio is producing on any given weekend. You will be required to be in the studio at least one full day per week over the course of the program and will assist on at least 3 wedding weekends (Thursday-Saturday).

Duties:

The Persephone Apprentice will complete duties that support the work of the studio, including but not limited to: keeping the studio organized, processing flowers, cleaning inventory, helping to arrange flowers (depending on skill set), packing arrangements, helping to set up events.

Requirements:

-Must be able to lift 40lbs and work on feet for long periods of time

-Must be Local to Chicago and able to work in the USA

-Must be able to work on weekends

-Must be on time, even early in the morning!

-Est. Between 5 and 20 hours each week.

Not Required, but desirable:

-Drivers license and personal vehicle

-Knowledgeable about floral nomenclature

-Fun to be around :)

Compensation:

-$12/hour

-3 one on one arranging classes with lead designer, Mary Simmons.

Freelance Production Team member

The freelance designer will work part time on event installation as a support person. 

Duties include: 

-packing, loading in and out

-laying tables

-aid on installation design

-clean-up

 Candidates must:

-be located in Chicago

-be able to work in the USA

-be prompt and timely

-able to work on weekends

-be flexible and able to jump into any kind of situation

-be able to stand and work on their feet for long periods of time

-lift and carry 40lbs

-be a team player

-possess a willingness to learn and listen to direction

-be able to switch from task to task and work in a fast paced environment

-hard working

Desired attributes include:

-experience with wedding installs

-willingness to work hard and lots of stamina

-can do attitude

-creative-minded person who can look at a picture or diagram and reproduce.

Pay depends on experience

Freelance Designer

Freelance designers will help Mary and her team to produce the floral arrangements for events.

Duties include:

-processing and cleaning flowers

-creating a cohesive set of quality arrangements with Mary’s guidance.

Candidates must:

-be located in Chicago

-be able to work in the USA

-be flexible and able to jump into any kind of situation

-be able to stand and work on their feet for long periods of time

-be a team player

-lift and carry 40lbs

-possess a willingness to learn and listen to direction

-be able to switch from task to task and work in a fast paced environment

-prompt and timely

-hard working

Desired attributes include:

-Floral design experience

-Art background

-quick learner
